How can I help my child at home?

You can help your child at home by letting them color with crayons or markers.  Help them to hold a pencil and practice writing their name.  We are trying to develop our students' small motor skills and coloring is a great way to help those skills.  They can color in a coloring book, draw freely on plain paper or scrap paper, or they can color a color page that you print off of the Internet.

You can also work with them on letter recognition and learning to spell his or her first name.  Count with your child; by the end of Kindergarten they need to be able to count to 50. This can be done during bath time, or when you are getting supper ready...any time will do!  Repetition is the key!

Have fun with your child.  We have a wonderful group of Kindergartners and they are so sweet and eager to learn.  Let them show off!

I will keep posting ways to help your child succeed in school.
Thanks,
Mrs. Parker
